Who We Are

The Inland Empire Chapter is a family oriented group of road riding enthusiasts who enjoy riding their Harley-Davidson® motorcycles together. The members would like to share this enjoyment with you and encourage you to join in the activities we have during the year. You are welcome to participate in many of the events whether or not you join the chapter (there are a few closed rides, 'members only'). . As a chapter member you will receive many benefits.

The Sponsoring Dealer of our chapter is   Skip Fordyce Harley-Davidson®  located at 7688 Indiana Avenue in Riverside (between Adams and Madison).

What Do We Do?

WE ARE A
RIDING CHAPTER!

Below you'll see listed some of our annual rides. In 2011 we did 61 Chapter rides for a total of 14,187 miles. We had a total of 211 participants across the various rides (see our Butt Miles page) with 5 members riding over 10,000 miles with the Chapter. To earn a Butt Miles Patch a member must ride at least 3,000 miles with the Chapter and we had 64 members achieve that goal. As a Chapter we rode 422,153 butt miles in 2011.

To see where we have ventured this year check out some of our photo albums from various rides.

PLANNED RIDES

Most Sundays and some Saturdays, the chapter has a planned ride (weather permitting) with different departure locations. Departure times vary. More specific information can be obtained from the monthly newsletter, the calendar section of this website, or the Activities Chairperson listed elsewhere on this web page.

WEST  COAST  THUNDER®
Our most important ride of the year, with  Skip Fordyce Harley-Davidson®  as the sponsor, this chapter hosts the 'West Coast Thunder®' Ride. This ride is to honor our brothers and sisters who have given their lives while in the military service as well as our MIAs and P.O.W.s. Started in 2000, this ride is on Memorial Day. The members of this chapter donate time, effort, and money to host this ride. We start at Skip Fordyce Harley-Davidson®, ride to the Riverside National Cemetery, participate in the Memorial Services, then ride to Downtown Riverside to the historic courthouse to reflect, refresh, and enjoy our freedoms.
Please view the WebSite:  West Coast Thunder®

GET ACQUAINTED RIDES (GAR)

These rides start at our sponsoring dealer Skip Fordyce Harley-Davidson®.  We may see a safety video or talk about how we operate during our rides, with emphasis on safety, hand signals, spacing between riders, etc. Then a ride to one of the many local stops and then to a restaurant, diner, cafe for lunch. This gives new and seasoned members a chance to meet others in the group.

PROGRESSIVE BRUNCH RIDES

This has become one of our most popular events. The ride makes stops at different member's houses and sometimes takes the group all over Riverside and San Bernardino counties. Each stop offers different food items and great socializing.

SURPRISE RIDES

During the year we have 'Surprise Rides' which have been planned by members who select a location for breakfast, lunch or dinner and plots out a surprise ride either before or after the meal.

LAUGHLIN RIVER RUN

Many of our members participate in this annual event sponsored by Dal-Con Productions. The ride is in April to Laughlin, Nevada for four fun-filled days of events.

OVERNIGHTERS

The chapter plans overnight camping trips during the year to various locations.

RUN FOR THE GRIZZLIES

This is an event that was started by this chapter held sometime in spring or summer. Some of the activities include a poker run, poker walk, live music, bike show, vendors, field events/games, raffles and door prizes. In 1996 the Moonridge Zoo was willing to take in a homeless mother Grizzly bear and her cubs. All proceeds of this event are donated to Moonridge Zoo in Big Bear for the care and feeding of these bears.

BRIDGEPORT JAMBOREE

This annual event sponsored by the city of Bridgeport (located 2 to 3 hours south of Lake Tahoe on Route 395) has become a traditional chapter event. It is held the third weekend of June. NOTE: Bridgeport canceled the Jamboree since 2001 however, there are a number of members continuing the annual ride to Bridgeport, enjoying the ride up and the riding in this area, such as Yosemite and Lake Tahoe.  Update: Talk in Bridgeport is this event will be back!

RIDE TO JULIAN

This popular all day annual ride takes the chapter to historic Julian. We have a large turn out for this very scenic 100+ mile ride and the apple pie awaiting us in Julian makes it worthwhile.

LOVE RIDE

In November, members participate in the annual Love Ride sponsored by Glendale Harley-Davidson®. The ride attracts thousands of motorcyclists with one common interest: raising money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

TOY RUNS

We participate in many toy runs during the holiday season sponsored by other chapters and organizations.

NATIONAL LEVEL H. O. G.® EVENTS

As a chapter we participate in as many of the State and Regional H. O. G.® rallies as locale and time will allow. For these events, usually smaller groups depart at varying times.

BLOOD DRIVE

Periodically (every eight weeks) members of our chapter meet at the Food Connection on Adams and Indiana or other locations to ride to the San Bernardino Blood Bank to donate blood. This is kept on our account (MHOG) in the event any of our members or their immediate family ever need blood.

HOLIDAY PARTY

The chapter Holiday Party is held in December. This is an annual dress up affair with a great meal, music and dancing. Newly elected officers are installed and past officers are 'roasted' (but not for dinner).
